Table linen and embroidered elements of Kuyavian folk costume should be properly finished, for achieving a harmonious effect, with the same colour of thread which was used for the embroidery. Some embroiderers finish their works with knitting stitches which additionally strengthen the edge of the fabric. The works finished with single crochet stitches with picots look very elegant. Narrow, delicate crochet lace is less common. This method of finishing is used for white tablecloths.
The last activities are washing, light starching and ironing of still slightly wet fabric with embroidery. The ironing is made always on the left side of the fabric with embroidery, on a very soft bedding, so that the convexity of single elements can be enhanced.
